2021 World Car of the Year: Volkswagen ID.4
The team here at Volkswagen Brandon is thrilled to announce that the Volkswagen ID.4, the Volkswagen brand’s first all-electric SUV, was named the 2021 World Car of the Year. It endured the scrutiny of 93 international jurors in an intense global competition, but after the vote was decided, the Volkswagen ID.4 not only won the title but was praised for its environmental impact of no direct emissions and affordability. Congratulations, Volkswagen!
While we’re delighted that Volkswagen added another award to the 2021 year, we can’t say that we’re surprised — the wealth of features the Volkswagen ID.4 provides makes this compact SUV a winner for us. An 82 kWh electric battery, a full suite of driver assistance technology and innovative features like over-the-air software updates and the ID.Light assistant have all made our guests from Brandon, Wesley Chapel, Sarasota and Clearwater eager to try out the Volkswagen ID.4 model’s capabilities.

Volkswagen Responds in Gratitude
“We are particularly pleased about our ID.4 being named World Car of the Year,” says Ralf Brandstätter, CEO of Volkswagen passenger cars. “Not only because it is one of the most important car awards in the world, but also because the jury honored a great idea and a great team. The first ID. model for the key markets of Europe, China and the U.S. carries our electric offensive around the world.”
“The World Car of the Year award marks a great success for our entire ID. team,” says Thomas Ulbrich, Board Member for Development at the Volkswagen brand. “We have succeeded in developing a car that starts the system change to e-mobility in the world’s most important segment—compact SUVs—and offers excellent everyday usability. We are making innovative electric mobility in the volume market something that can be experienced by everyone.”
